Southbourne Lions were out and about with Santa and his sleigh before Christmas, visiting all our local area bringing much excitement to both children and adults heralded by the bell and carol singing from the Sleigh. Many children were keen to have their photos taken with Santa and he was happy to oblige in return for them agreeing to be good for their parents!
Emsworth Concert Band kindly provided a magnificent concert in late March, at The Bourne Community School, and was able to bolster charity funds for Southbourne Lions, Earlier this year Andy entered the Band into the Chichester Festival for Music, Dance and Speech and they won their class with an “outstanding” score .
President Lynne and Lions Pat and Vicki visited Kings College Hospital on 29th May for the annual LIBRA update. This was provided by lectures about the blood diseases the unit treats (blood cancers and Sickle Cell Anaemia) and a visit to a recently refurbished unit (opened by Dame Kelly Jones) made possible by support from Lions Clubs.
At Southbourne Lions’ celebratory dinner at Emsworth Sailing Club on Tuesday 23rd January 2024, three Lions were awarded the Melvin Jones Fellow plaque for their dedicated humanitarian services by the Lions Club International Foundation.
As a result of the Easter Egg raffle, Southbourne Lions has added over £400 to their charity funds. These funds enable us to work with the community, for instance, helping local families, schools, youth activities, young carers, and age concern.
Results of the Southbourne Lions local Peace Poster competition for Primary Schools are in! The three Headteachers were pleased to receive a cheque for £50 to buy art materials for their school and they thanked both the Lions and the local community.
12 Young Carers from Bourne Community College had an absolutely brilliant day at the Christian Youth Establishment during their half-term. Many thanks to our local community whose generous donations to the Lions Club of Southbourne make this activity day possible.
Being part of Southbourne Lions Club is about serving our local community by raising funds to support local charities and good causes, details about our activities can be found here on our website. As well as this we find time to enjoy fellowship activities and a recent visit to Lordington Lavender was one such time.
The sun shone for the annual Bank Holiday Emsworth Horticultural Society Show which once again was a great success. Southbourne Lions played their part by providing a magnificent variety of healthy garden plants for sale to the public.
Emsworth Concert Band will be performing at Bourne Community College on Saturday 23 March 2024 at 7pm. The performance is in support of Southbourne Lions’ Charities. There will be a pre-concert and interval bar.
Southbourne Lions are once again raffling giant Easter Eggs to raise funds for charities. Chocolate lovers can enter the raffle at a range of pubs and cafes in the area. Click the ‘More’ button to see a list of venues taking part.
Southbourne Lions once again took part in the annual Marie Curie Great Daffodil Appeal on Saturday 15th March. With thanks to the Southbourne Farm Shop for allowing us access and our generous community, we collected £133 for this important charity which helps to bring end of life care and support for everyone.
Southbourne Lions arranged an exciting fun day out at the Christian Youth Enterprises (CYE) activities centre at Cobnor to give 14 young carers a chance to spend time with their peers and try new and exciting activities.
Southbourne Lions held their 2025 Charter Dinner and Dance at the Emsworth Sailing on Club on Saturday 14th June. Excellent food and company was enjoyed by guests and other Lions from Chichester, Havant, Bognor and Midhurst.
